Speaking
Assessed through an oral interview, observed in-class pair/group work/paired conversations, role plays; debates; and in-class presentations.
Listening
Assessed through filling out a chart based on listening to classmates oral presentations; multiple choice and/or true-false questions; fill-in-the-blank; in-class discussion; open-ended video, etc.
Method: Students will be divided into either an "A" role or a "B" role. Each role is given a different task such as ask a question or answer a question. The content of these questions is listed above as "I CAN" statements. Students will spontaneously use previously-learned vocabulary, sentence patterns, and other learnt material to negotiate speech acts in Mandarin.
